Startup · the no-brainer argument

No brainer!

Ten reasons to try Startup — the plan for a shop that’s stopped testing the water and started trading like it means it.

Cancel from your account any time — shop keeps running on Community. UK-based since 2007.

The full case, in ten lines.

Everything you already run on Community keeps running. Startup adds these ten on top.

01

Your name on the storefront, not ours.

The Freewebstore line comes off the footer. The only brand a customer should remember is yours.

02

Keep more of every sale.

Freewebstore’s cut drops from 2.5% to 0.5% on every order — Stripe, PayPal, Ryft, offline, all gateways. No asterisks. At £2,000/mo in sales the drop already covers the £15.

03

Run a sale whenever you like.

Discount codes and promotions. A bank-holiday code, a launch offer, a thank-you for someone who keeps coming back.

04

Give people a reason to return.

Customer accounts, wishlists and basic loyalty points. Reward the ones who show up more than once.

05

Sell gift cards. Accept tips.

Two ways to take money Community can’t — the present someone buys when they can’t decide, and the tip they leave when they’re pleased.

06

Bring in a second pair of hands.

Two staff accounts. Someone else can pack orders or answer questions without sharing your login.

07

Your own domain, free for the first year.

Your .co.uk (or .com, .net) on us for year one. On Community you buy the domain yourself; on Startup it’s bundled.

08

Human support that doesn’t run out.

Community gives you 30 days of human ticket support and then the AI takes over. Startup keeps the humans — 24-hour reply target, for as long as you’re a customer.

09

Sharper AI reports and product copy.

The enhanced AI advisor tier for reports and product copy, refreshed weekly instead of fortnightly. Deeper analysis, faster loop.

10

Pay less on every basket Cart Saver wins back.

Cart Saver already emails your abandoned baskets. On Startup the fee on a recovered basket drops from 5% to 3%.

That’s all ten. Unlimited products, storage and bandwidth. Free hosting and SSL. PayPal, Stripe, Ryft and Apple Pay. Selling on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and Google Shopping. All of it stays exactly as it is — Startup adds to it.

Three clicks. No downtime, no migration.

1

Click Upgrade in your control panel

My Account → Upgrade, or the crown icon anywhere in the dashboard. Startup is the middle option.

2

Pick monthly or annual

Annual pays for 11 months and gets 12. Two years pays for 18. Three years pays for 24. Or just do monthly — cancel any time.

3

Startup features unlock straight away

Branding gone, discount codes on, gift cards ready, staff accounts opened. Billing is prorated for the rest of the cycle.

The questions you actually have before upgrading.

Can I cancel Startup any time? +
Yes. Cancel from My Account and the shop reverts to the free Community plan — it stays live, keeps its data, and doesn’t get deleted by cancelling. If you actually want to delete the shop, that’s a separate Close Store option in My Account.
What if I try Startup then want to go back to Community? +
You can. Downgrades take effect at the end of the current billing cycle, so you keep Startup features until then. The shop, products, orders and customers stay put — the plan changes, nothing else.
Is there a discount for paying yearly? +
Yes. Pay one year up front and you get one month free (pay for 11, get 12). Two years gets you six months free. Three years gets you twelve months free. All plans except Community.
Do my products, customers and orders come with me when I upgrade? +
Yes. Upgrading is a plan swap, not a migration. Same shop, same URL, same everything — Startup features unlock immediately and prorated billing kicks in for the rest of the current cycle.
What actually changes on my storefront the moment I upgrade? +
The Freewebstore branding disappears from the footer. Discount codes, promotions, gift cards, tipping and loyalty points become available to configure. Human ticket support opens up (24-hour reply target). The commission drop applies to every sale from that moment on.
